Default Final drive woes

Took the bike into the dealers today to have a noisy thrust bearing examined, only to be told the bearings have nearly gone in the final drive. Booked in for next week is it a big job what other problems will this cause what should i be asking. Oh and the thrust bearing is okay but they will look at it at least its covered by warranty. BMW 7k on the clock makes you think.

Replacing a final drive can be done in well under an hour if they have a new drive in hand.

It's maybe 20 minutes actual work . . .

How many have you been through Ken? I lost mine at 48,500 and they replaced the whole back section

This just shouldn't happen; it is very worrying.

Factory final drive failed at 63K. The replacement lasted 10K. That one has been on for 65K with no more issues . . .

But that's just the GT. I also went through two LT final drive failures, and a seal leak . . .
